STANDSCHUTZEN SLEEVE BADGE:
Scarce example of the late war sleeve badge worn by
members of the Standschutzen Battalions as part
of the Volksturm. Basically a Militia, the
Standschutzen were organized from rifle and hunting
clubs throughout the Tyrol. This example is for the unit
raised in Innsbruck Austria and consists of fine,
multi-colored machine embroidery on a dark grey-green
wool diamond. It depicts a Tyrolean eagle and the
wording “STANDSCHUTZEN BATAILLON INNSBRUCK in
lime green. The reverse has a reinforced backing of
thick, white gauze. It shows some wear with frayed edges
and a small split towards the bottom from being removed
from a tunic. Condition III+ $145.00 |
