#7400-HUNGARIAN NATIONALITY SHIELD: Unique example of a small (Cuff sized) Hungarian Nationality Shield that appears to have been used by a Hungarian attached to a German Police formation. The shield measures 1-1/4 inches wide by 1-3/4 inches tall and is of hand-embroidered construction on a backing of Police “green” wool. The embroidery work is in fine rayon thread in the Hungarian colors of red, white & green with a white cord border. The word Ungarn (German for Hungarian) is neatly hand sewn with black thread on the center white segment. The reverse has the typical protective backing of black paper that shows some wear. It is well documented that the Royal Hungarian Gendarmerie worked alongside the German forces in Police operations throughout the war.. Shows light wear and age, Condition II+ $125.00
