#11989-WEHRMACHT AIR MESSAGE CONTAINER: Seldom seen example of the container used to drop paper documents from aircraft to ground units. Produced of aluminum, it measures 14 inches in length having a screw cap at one end (stuck) and a grenade style fuse apparatus at the other end. To make the container visible upon landing, it is finished in bright orange paint (retained at about 85%) along with an internal smoke device that was timed via the fuse for landing. The tube has smoke holes on each side, stenciled wording (Important message-transmission) and 50% of the original paper label.
