#12201-EARLY
S.A.
MARINE STYLE DAGGER:
Fine, early quality
example S.A. dagger produced by the scarce maker
Karl Malsch. It has a beautiful grip that appears
to be mahogany having nice graining and a nicely
detailed eagle & fine looking SA enamel button.
The cross guards have a light gilt plating with stamped
"Mi" Gruppe marking on the reverse bottom,
which has a few wear marks across the surface.. The
mirror finish blade has a deep and dark motto along with
the oval makers mark on the reverse. It has small
surface scratches and some runner marks, including one
across the top end of the motto. The scabbard retains
over 95% of its brown lacquer finish, which is most
likely an old, nicely done repaint. It is complete with
gilt plated fittings matching the cross guards. The ring
remains in nickel color, apparently having its gilt
finish worn off. the bottom fitting has a few tiny dings
but retains an undamaged ball. It is furnished with an
RZM marked dark brown leather hanger that is
reattached and
not
original to this dagger. Overall shows light use with
some oxidation and wear to the gilt platings. Condition
