#8342-R.A.D. STAFF OFFICERS UNIFORM SET:
A most interesting uniform set worn by a lower RAD
Officer assigned to a group staff. The private purchase
set consists of the 1935 pattern open collar Officers
tunic with the 1940 seven button configuration as used
for dress. The tunic is of light “earth” brown wool
trikot having a dark brown wool collar, roll cuffs,
upper pleated & lower flapped pockets. The rear has the
triple seamed “rock” cut with two belt support buttons.
It has black wool piping around its collar, cuffs and
down the front panel, which was prescribed for General
ranks and perhaps also allowed to staff members or an
adjutant. The 1936 pattern Unterfeldmeister
insignia is of nicely hand applied collar tabs of
aluminum bullion and sewn in shoulder boards all on the
black velvet “general” branch color. The right shoulder
board has a small button under it suggesting that it was
worn by an Adjutant. The left sleeve has a hand applied
assignment shield for Gruppe 76 in machine woven
red & aluminum flatwire on black. Below this a standard
party armband of multi-piece construction in artificial
silk cloth that is tightly hand sewn. The tunic also
retains the remnants of two sets of badge loops on the
upper left pocket. The well-appointed interior is lined
with sections of double laid cloth and dark brown rayon
cloth. It is complete with an inner pocket and edged
weapons slot behind the lower pocket. The custom
breeches are produced in contrasting brown wool
trikot having two stylized side pockets and a slit
watch pocket on the front. They have a flapped, button
close pocket on the rear and button closed lower calves.
The exterior waist has added-on belt loops of a similar
but darker tone cloth. The interior waistband is
partially lined in olive brown cotton twill with
pocketbags of white linen. The tunic shows use with wear
and several scattered snags mainly to the right sleeve.
The trousers also show wear with some minor repairs to
the interior lining. Condition II-/II+SOLD
