#13109-R.A.D. MEDICAL OFFICERS M44 TUNIC:
A most interesting and rare example of an early
pattern tunic that was depot converted to the 1944
pattern for use by an R.A.D. Medical Officer.
Originally a 1938 model issue tunic, It is of earth
brown uniform wool having a dark brown collar and five
button front. It's depot rework is of the highest
tailoring standards and consists of the shortening of
the skirt and addition of the wide waistband with two
buttons. The upper pockets are converted to the non
pleated type and snaps have been added in order to
hold the lapels open when desired. The insignia
consists of machine sewn Oberfeldmeister collar
tabs and matching sewn in boards on blue velvet, a
rare service color for the R.A.D. The arm
shield is machine woven in officers flatwire (
Abteilung 265) that is tightly zag zag machine
applied. The sleeve shows no signs of an armband,
which would be acceptable on such a late war garment.
The interior has a partial lining of brown cotton
twill retaining its original 1938 RAD issue and unit
markings. A rare and desirable jacket showing minor
wear & age, Condition II- $ 895.00
