#8740-PROTECTION
POLICE NCO VISOR CAP:
A nice, early war period example of the visor cap worn
by NCO and enlisted ranks of the Schutzpolizei.
The private purchase cap is of a low saddle form in
“Police green” uniform wool with a cap band of brown
wool and bright grass green wool piping. The front has
an aluminum 2nd pattern Police eagle and a
plain National Kokarde above a black patent leather
chinstrap. Each side of the cap is furnished with a pair
of enameled vent grommets (instead of the larger screen
vents) as typical to enlisted ranks caps. The nicely
matched interior exhibits an orange brown visor
underside coordinating to the mixed lining of rust
colored chintz gauze and upper roof of impregnated
cloth. It is completed by a full sweatband of brown
leather but lacking its cello diamond, the stitched
outline of which is still visible. This well-used cap
shows areas of wear and a slightly bent inner band.
There are a couple of moth nips to the rear with some
mothing to the center band piping, largely unnoticeable
as it hidden below the cap overhang at the sides & rear.
The interior also shows wear and soiling to the
sweatband. Remains a complete and sharp looking cap in
Condition III+ $750.00
