#5021-IMPERIAL
PASSBOOKS FOR JEWISH LITHUANIANS:
Interesting
examples of these military form passbooks issued to two
Lithuanian Jews. The six page documents have a light
blue cover and measure 5-3/4 by 3-1/4 inches. They are
printed in German and Hebrew, one pass for a man and the
other a woman. The
documents are issued by the German Administration of
Lithuania-German high command of the east. The center
has a black and white photo of the holder and what
appears to be a thumbprint on the opposite page. The
photos have background signs with the letters “Lt”
(Lithuania) and three digit numbers that correspond to
the pass number. Most of the information is handwritten
in German with numerous stamps of the German
administration and dated 1917 these are extremely rare
documents. Both show evidence of age and wear, III+
