#13681-HITLER YOUTH SIGNAL BUGLE:
A fine and complete example of the Signalhorn as
carried by members of the Hitler Youth. The instrument
is in the specific military style and similar to those
used by the Wehrmacht and other political organizations.
This bugle has a length of 12 inches and is produced of
sheet brass. The lower bell portion has a fine HJ
pattern eagle in matching brass that is so tightly
soldered that it appears embossed into the surface
(virtually all instrument insignias are attached in this
fashion). The lower bell portion and center of the grip
have contrasting bands of nickel metal. It has the
correct rings for holding the shoulder strap which is
amazingly still attached. This strap is of the period
but non-regulation, being in brown
leather with a brass buckle with the same light patina
matching the bugle and remnants of black ink markings on
the reverse. The bugle also retains a removable brass
(trumpet type) mouth piece that is connected by a small brass retaining
chain. The center of the bugle also retains its cord
wrap being in the national colors of black, red & white.
This cord appears to have had its end tassels removed
and is somewhat faded. This type of bugle was carried
during field exercises and used for signal purposes
unlike the fanfare trumpets and bugles used by bands.
This hard to find example is one of a few instruments I
have collected over the years showing light wear and
age, Condition II- $1095.00 |
