The sew-in shoulder boards are of bright aluminum with gilt “HV” cypher & pip on a doubled underlay of black & medium green. The matching collar tabs are of hand-embroidered aluminum wire on a medium green backing with black piping on three edges. The black secondary color was used by a wide variety of Technical services including Teachers, Railroad, Buildings, Factory, Ordnance depots and Engineering services. The rank corresponded to the actual service and included  Heereslehrer, Heereswerkstattenvorsteher, Oberzahlmeister, Etc. that were equivalent to Oberleutnant.
