#10967-HEER  INFANTRY NCO M40 SHOULDER STRAPS: A most impressive pair of M40 “combat” straps as worn by an Infantry Oberfeldwebel. The slip on straps are produced of field grey wool cloth having white rayon piping. The full tresse is machine applied and was once bright aluminum that has now oxidized to a subdued grey shade. This tresse is sewn in from the edge as was typical for field application as well as two styles of pips, all indicating a rise in rank by the wearer. The reverse shows no ersatz workmanship suggesting early war period issue. Off a tunic, the straps are a bit “salty” showing minor wear, toning and surface soiling.
