#7124-TRANSITIONAL MILITARY SNARE DRUM:
Very hard to find example of the snare drum as carried
by Military and Para-Military marching bands. It has a
brass barrel body with wooden frames at top and bottom
with drumskins of white calfskin. The wooden frames are
painted in the traditional triangle pattern in the
Landesfarbe(State colors) in this case being green &
white for Saxony. The drum has all eight of its spanner
bolts as well as a turnkey & hook holding the snare
wires below the bottom head. It has an upper plate with
two holes for the hanger and two bolts for the lower leg
wire that is missing. Drums decorated in this way were
introduced for the Reichsheer in 1930 and worn
into the early days of the Wehrmacht not to
mention their use by SA and other uniformed
organizations. The drum is unmarked and it is not
an older (Imperial) over painted model. The drum shows
many small chips and areas of peeled paint from age as
well as paint loss to the edges from drumstick wear. The
top skin also has a 6” split from age. Shows use and
overall age, Condition III+ $375.00 |
