#7112-JUSTICE HEADDRESS:
Ultra-rare example of the unique headdress as worn by
German Judges as part of their courtroom attire. This
traditional round cap is of black cotton cloth having
two stiffened, upright panels of deep purple velvet.
These panels are interlaced at each side with two strips
of gold bullion soutace. The interior is fully lined
with black silk cloth having a full sweatband of brown
calfskin leather. It is complete with the machine sewn
BeVo label of a Berlin Vestments maker.
There is not much research available on these garments
but period photos of the infamous Judge Roland
Freisler show him wearing a purple cap like this,
which I believe is the color for Judges of the National
courts. In clean condition with minor age and toning to
the bullion soutace. Condition II+ $1800.00 |
