OFFICIALS BRIMMED HAT:
Scarce example of the traditional
Waldhut
as worn by a member of the National Forestry
association. This "Jaeger" style configuration
has the brim turned up at the sides with a smaller
kokarde and was worn as a service dress (see
original illustration). The hat is of pressed grey-green
felt having a dark green wool brim edging and band. It
is complete with an aluminum state pattern eagle on the
front and national kokarde with boar bristle
brush on the left side. The correctly unlined interior
retains 85% of its original brown leather sweatband
having round metal initial plaquettes. The reverse of
this sweatband has a piece of folded, original newspaper
that was no doubt inserted to make a better fit. The cap
shows use with some wear & age, having a few moth nips
to the exterior. the interior shows sweat staining with
the leather sweatband loose. Condition III+ $695.00
