#10514-RED CROSS ENLISTED HEWER WITH FROG:
Nice example of the hewer carried by enlisted DRK
members. The dull nickel-plated hilt, pommel and
crossguard appear uncleaned with a fine looking DRK
eagle on the front disc.. It has a checkered front grip
plate in fine condition but sadly the reverse smooth
grip plate is broken and lacking two cracked off
sections due to an over tightness of the spanner bolts.
The serrated blade is clean & bright with only very
minor scratches. It is unmarked (as common to these
blades) except for the wording “Ges Geschutzt”
and complete with inset black leather washer, The
scabbard is complete with its nickel fittings and
retains about 95% of its original black painted finish.
It has a few small scratches and some denting to the
reverse. It is completed by its original DRK pattern
frog of black leather having riveted construction and a
coded makers mark dated 1941 on the reverse. The frog
shows use with areas of wear and some light creases. A
nice edged weapon that would certainly be well worth
restoring. Condition II+/II- SOLD |
