#10323-EARLY LUFTWAFFE / D.L.V. OFFICERS VISOR
CAP:
Very rare example of the pre 1935 visor cap as worn by
members of the Deutsche Luftfahrt and by some
motor pilots of the D.L.V. This private purchase example
is in a low-saddled form being of a “bluer” blue-grey
uniform wool. It has matched piping in the same color
wool and a capband of black ribbed mohair. The front
has a standard M29 state/political eagle above an
aluminum first pattern DL winged wreath. It has a
standard Officers pattern aluminum chincord that is
secured by two lightly pebbled side buttons. The visor
is of black fiber with a stitched reinforced edge. Its
interior has a two-piece lining consisting of an upper
“roof” of brown impregnated cloth with matching side
panels of brown cotton. The upper portion has a silver
oxide stamping “Wasserdicht- Stirndruckfrei-Deutsches
Reichspatent” denoting that the cap is waterproof
among other things. It is complete with a full sweatband
of brown leather having an edging of black velvet. The
cap shows light use and some age with wear to the
interior and some crazing to the visor. It also has a
very tiny nip to the front center top, otherwise a prime
example in condition II+ $1250.00 |
