#4635-CROATIAN WOUND MEDAL :
Fine example of the 1943 pattern medal awarded to the
war wounded by the Axis nation of Croatia. In the
so-called “Iron” class (actually zinc Kriegsmetal)
It was awarded for one to four wounds. The amount of
wounds suffered is designated by the number of blue
stripes on the red & white ribbon, in this case one
stripe for one wound. The two-sided medal has a
decorated suspension loop and is attached to a ribbon
folded in the old “Austro-Hungarian” style with hook and
eye reverse. The medal shows some grey oxidation along
with light age toning to the ribbon. Condition II+
